Weather Request Example
TextMeWeather receives weather data requests via SMS. A typical request could look like:
"Search": "Breckenridge, CO",
"Type":"PoP",
"Dates":"[2025-01-12,2025-01-13]",
"NH": 3
The above example shows Percentage Chance of Precipitation. The example request retrieves the percentage likelihood of precipitation every 3 hours for January 12 and 13, 2025 for Breckenridge, CO. You can only retrieve weather forecasts which are available from weather.gov at the time, which is typically 7 days of forecast data. So, this specific request could have been made between January 7-12, 2025; it would not work to request a January 2025 forecast today.

Receiving Weather
Weather Forecast Example
TextMeWeather requests the weather data from weather.gov as specified by the user. The data is then returned to the user, for example:
Summ,CO
%chc precip at 3h inc
1/12 at 10a: 12,17,18,17,13,
1/13 at 1a: 7,5,4,4,13,13,3,3,
The above returned message indicates that the weather has been returned for the Breckenridge, Colorado location that is based in Summit County, Colorado. The Percentage Chance of Precipitation is returned at 3 hour increments starting at 10am on January 12, 2025. A start time is only included when a user has requested same-day weather and starts with the next-available hour of data. In this case, the user requested same-day weather for January 12 between 9 and 10am on that date.
